How to run WordPress Statistics Reports

WordPress websites’ statistics reports can come in handy if you would like to generate a report to see for example how many times a user logged in, or how many posts, pages, or custom post types the user(s) have viewed.

To create statistics reports, first navigate to WP Activity Log, then click on Reports. Next, click the Statistics reports tab. Here you’ll find all available statistics reports alongside applicable options, which we’ll go through next.

Available statistics reports

You can generate any of the following statistics reports:

  • Number of logins for all users
  • Number of newly registered users
  • Number of logins for a specific user or users
  • Number of logins for users with a specific role
  • Number of profile changes for a specific user or users
  • Number of profile changes for users with a specific role
  • Number of views for all posts
  • Number of views for a user or users
  • Number of views for a user or users with a specific role
  • Number of views for a specific post
  • Number of published content for all users
  • Number of published content for a specific user or users
  • Number of published content for users with a specific role
  • User password changes and resets
  • List of IP addresses used by user with an optional filter to restrict list to login IPs
  • List of IP addresses used to access the website
  • List of users who accessed the website

Note: You can use the List of IP Addresses used by user report to see if, for example, a paid membership is being shared.

How to generate statistics reports

To generate a Statistics Report:

  1. Specify the date range (optional)
  2. Select the data sorting type
  3. Choose the statistics report you want to run
  4. Enter the desired criteria
  5. Select the Report format (HTML, CSV, or PDF)
  6. Click Generate Report

Note: if you would like to generate a statistics report in PDF format, a helper plugin needs to be installed. This option will be made available to you just before the Generate Report button. Click the Install the helper plugin button to install the helper plugin.
