What are the default WordPress activity log detail levels?

The WP Activity Log plugin has the most detailed WordPress activity log. Though not everyone is interested in knowing all the geeky details of what is happening under the hood of their WordPress website. Some are interested in knowing just what their users are doing. Hence why the WP Activity Log plugin has two default activity log detail levels, as explained in this post.

Basic WordPress activity log detail level

The basic WordPress activity log detail level is ideal for those who manage a team of authors and editors and are simply interested in keeping an eye on what their team is doing. Therefore when configured on this log level, the plugin will keep a log of what users are doing such as logins and logouts, post changes such as content changes etc and similar events. It will not keep a log of changes that can be done by administrators only such as changing the default settings in WordPress.

Refer to the list of WordPress activity log events for a complete list of which WordPress activity log events are included in the basic WordPress activity log level.

Geek WordPress activity log detail level

The geek WordPress activity log detail level is for all those who want to know all the details of what is happening underneath the hood of their WordPress websites and multisite networks. Therefore this log level also includes the logging of admin changes to the WordPress website settings and defaults etc.

Refer to the list of WordPress activity log events for a complete list of WordPress website and multisite network changes the WP Activity Log plugin can keep a log of.
