We are happy to announce the release of version 2.2.0 of the Email Notifications Add-On, the add-on that allows you to be instantly notified via email when important changes happen on your WordPress. Here is a quick overview of what is new:
Editable Email Templates
You can now edit and personalise the email templates that are sent to you using the standard WordPress editor. Therefore the process is very simple. You can also create a specific email template for a specific notification should you wish, as explained in the FAQ Editing the Email Notification Templates of the WP Activity Log plugin.
Email Notifications for Alerts with Counters
Some of the alerts in the WordPress activity log have a counter associated with them. For example Alert 6007 (404 errors), and Alerts 1002 & 1003 (WordPress failed logins) report how many times such action has taken place. So if a user requested a non-existing page 5 times, the alert will report such activity, such as User X requests a non-existing page 5 times.
Now you can configure the Email Notifications add-on to alert you when the counter of a specific alert reaches a particular number, as shown in the screenshot below.
This feature is very useful since you do not want to be notified each time there is a failed login, or a 404 error. But you need to be notified when there are 5 or 10 failed login attempts, or 404 errors, since this can be a sign of suspicious activity.
Use WordPress Username Instead of an Email Address
When configuring an email notification for your WordPress you can also specify a username instead of an email address, as shown in the below screenshot. Therefore you do not have to remember the email addresses any more.
Updating the Email Notifications Add-On
When you login to your WordPress administrator pages you will be alerted that an update is available for the Email Notifications Add-On, the same as you are alerted about updates for other plugins. Should you need assistance, do not hesitate to contact us.
